Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Service Technician - Escalators on Day Shifts to join our team based in Northfleet, working on a 4 on, 4 off basis. The role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance on lift and escalator equipment, ensuring safety inspections are completed, and addressing non-conformities in compliance with legislation and standards. The technician will also oversee improvements to equipment condition to reduce call-backs and downtime, perform minor repairs, and handle lifecycle component replacements. Adherence to all safety and conduct procedures is mandatory, along with providing coverage via an 'on call' rota for out-of-hours maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine servicing, minor repairs, and component replacements following company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+).
• Diagnose and rectify faults, ensuring equipment functions correctly during checks.
• Inspect and adjust lift/escalator components, reinstating equipment and completing documentation.
• Utilize technical manuals and test equipment for advanced fault finding and diagnostics.
• Conduct site surveys and participate in training to maintain technical proficiency.
• Comply with safety and environmental policies, supporting company safety objectives and maintaining safety systems.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in lift/escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs preferred.
• Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent qualification.
• Willingness to pursue Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi-brand equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and fault diagnosis capabilities.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and to deadlines.
• Manual dexterity and proficiency with hand/power tools and documentation.
• Good administration skills and punctuality.
