Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a Service Manager to lead the Business Support service across Children’s Services. This pivotal role reports to the Head of Service, Family Help, and focuses on delivering efficient, high-quality support to frontline practitioners, managers and partners.

You will oversee a diverse team, drive continuous improvement, and champion digital transformation while ensuring compliance with governance and information security standards.

Qualifications

• Experience leading business support or administrative services in a large organisation.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills with focus on outcomes.
• Experience in budget management and resource planning.
• Knowledge of governance, information security and local government frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate teams, creating a positive, high-performing culture.
• Manage resources, budgets and competing priorities efficiently.
• Develop performance management and QA processes to drive improvements.
• Build relationships with senior leaders and partner organisations.
• Analyse information, identify risks/opportunities, and provide clear recommendations.
• Use data and digital tools to modernise and improve services.

Education

Degree-level qualification / equivalent management experience
