Job description

SNAP is looking for an experienced, compassionate and enthusiastic Service Manager to help lead our services and support our team through the next stage of the organisation’s development. This is a senior leadership role, but we are not looking for someone who wants to lead from behind a desk. We are looking for someone who wants to understand our services, know our staff, meet our families and see first-hand the difference SNAP makes every day.

About The Role

This is an important position at the heart of SNAP. The Service Manager will lead the day-to-day delivery of services, support and develop our operational team, and help ensure every service is safe, well-organised, person-centred and responsive to the needs of the children, young people, adults and families we support.

SNAP is registered with the Care Inspectorate as a support service (not care at home). The successful candidate will undertake the responsibilities of Registered Manager, working closely with the Care Inspectorate and meeting relevant SSSC requirements.

As a member of the leadership team, you will work directly with the Chief Officer to support service quality, workforce development and the continued growth of SNAP.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, support and develop staff and volunteers across SNAP services.
  • Ensure safe, high-quality service delivery that meets individual needs and outcomes.
  • Oversee safeguarding, regulatory compliance, health and safety, and quality assurance processes.
  • Support recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, training and workforce development.
  • Build positive relationships with children, young people, adults, families, carers and partner professionals.
  • Manage referrals, reviews, incidents, complaints and continuous improvement activity.
  • Work with the Chief Officer and wider team to plan services, staffing and resources effectively.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of Registered Manager for SNAP's regulated services.
About You

We welcome applications from candidates with experience across social care, children's services, disability services, community support or related sectors.

More importantly, we are looking for someone who combines professional confidence with compassion, common sense and strong leadership skills.

You will be someone who can make difficult decisions when needed, but who also listens. Someone who understands regulation, quality and compliance while never losing sight of the individual behind the paperwork. You will believe that developing and supporting a team is every bit as important as managing one.

Experience of leading regulated care or support services would be particularly valuable.

Essential Requirements
  • A relevant qualification in health and social care, social work, education, community learning and development, or a related discipline.
  • This may include an SVQ Level 3, HNC or a recognised practice award in a supervisor or manager category.
  • Experience of leading or delivering care, support or similar services for children, young people or adults with additional support needs or learning disabilities.
  • Experience of supervising, motivating and developing staff.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and quality standards within care or support settings.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, resilience and the ability to make balanced decisions in a changing environment.

We are happy to discuss supporting the right candidate to complete additional qualifications where appropriate.

Location The role is based across SNAP's offices at Drummond School and Seafield Road, Inverness.

Following an initial 12-week period, there may be some flexibility for home working where this suits the needs of the role and organisation.

The role will also involve occasional travel in connection with SNAP services, activities and meetings.

Why Join SNAP?

This is a role where you can genuinely see the difference you make.

You’ll be joining a well-established Highland charity at an important stage in its development, working alongside a committed and experienced team of staff and volunteers. SNAP has strong roots within the Highland community and continues to evolve in response to the needs of the people and families it supports.

This Is An Opportunity To
  • Help shape the future development of SNAP services.
  • Play a key role in maintaining service quality and sustainability.
  • Lead improvements in response to changing needs within the community.
  • Be part of an organisation where relationships, community and the people we support truly matter.

If you're looking for a leadership role where your work will have a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you.
