Service Manager – Burton On Trent
Basic Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 (experience weighted)
OTE: £63,000
Bonus paid quarterly if Profitability, Customer satisfaction and People development targets achieved.
Overachievement annual bonus available

The Role
This isn't a traditional workshop management role.
We're looking for a proactive leader who can balance customer satisfaction, team development and commercial performance while driving continuous improvement throughout the service department.
You’ll have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the service department, ensuring the workshop operates efficiently, customers receive exceptional service, and the team consistently delivers outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop the service department team.
- Drive labour sales, departmental profitability and departmental performance.
- Improve workshop productivity, efficiency and utilisation.
- Oversee new Van Centre Workshop
- Coach and support service advisors, the Workshop Controller and technicians.
- Manage workshop capacity and diary planning to maximise throughput.
- Deliver excellent customer satisfaction and achieve manufacturer KPI targets.
- Ensure repair orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Work closely with the Parts Department to maximise workshop efficiency.
- Reduce work in progress and improve vehicle throughput.
- Monitor technician productivity, efficiency and utilisation.
- Lead daily departmental planning meetings.
- Ensure manufacturer standards and compliance are consistently achieved.
- Identify and implement process improvements across the department.rem
- Take ownership of customer complaints and ensure prompt resolution.
- Recruit, train and develop future talent within the department.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and dealership policies across the workshop and service areas.
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times.
- Carry out regular risk assessments and ensure hazards are identified, reported and resolved promptly.
- Ensure all staff are trained and aware of Health & Safety procedures, including PPE usage and safe workshop practices.
- Work with senior management to maintain a safe working environment for employees, customers and visitors.
Working Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 08:00 – 18:00
- Saturday rota: 08:00 – 12:30
