Job description

The Service Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in South Wales, UK. In this role, the Service Engineer will install, commission, and maintain laser and robotic systems at customer facilities, ensuring safe and reliable operation. The position involves troubleshooting technical issues, performing diagnostics, and conducting repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment. The Service Engineer will provide technical support and training to customers, document service activities, and collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to report field issues and suggest product improvements. The role may require occasional travel to customer sites, adherence to safety and quality standards, and clear communication with both internal stakeholders and external clients.

Qualifications
  • Strong technical skills in electromechanical systems, lasers, robotics, or automation, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial or medical manufacturing equipment, including use of diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., CE, FDA, electrical and laser safety), with a focus on safe working practices.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly and build positive relationships with clients.
  • Proficiency in basic IT skills for configuring control systems, documenting service reports, and using remote support tools.
  • Ability to work independently on-site, manage time and tasks efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant technical qualification such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics), or equivalent industry experience.
  • Previous experience in medical device manufacturing, automation, or high-tech industrial environments is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed and valid authorization to work in the region.
