Role Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Glaucoma Unit at Heavitree Hospital as a Service Coordinator within our ophthalmology team. This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

In this key role, you will oversee the daily management and leadership of the administrative team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused services. You will work closely with clinicians, management, and administrative staff to provide excellent customer care and support the continuous development and improvement of our services.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and support the administrative team
  2. Provide excellent customer care, including communication with patients and their relatives/carers
  3. Promote a positive and supportive team culture
  4. Book appointments for acute and urgent patients
  5. Monitor ophthalmology waiting lists, escalating overdue patients as necessary
  6. Use data reports to track and manage waiting lists; report findings to the lead clinician and management team
  7. Identify capacity issues and support future service planning
  8. Set up clinics in EPIC and update clinician rotas in MediRota
  9. Coordinate with the lead clinician to address clinic closures and arrange additional clinics
  10. Attend and contribute to team and service meetings
  11. Take minutes as needed
