Job summary

British Red Cross is seeking a Service Coordinator in Basingstoke to lead a team in moving people from hospital to home with dignity. You’ll manage referrals, coordinate staff and volunteers, monitor delivery, and keep records across the service area.

The role supports fast-paced, compassionate crisis response within the community. The position is a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027, with 28 hours weekly.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing or supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Strong communication skills with health and social care professionals.
  • Confidence using IT systems and maintaining service records.

Responsibilities

  • Attend hospital meetings and manage the service budget; support frontline delivery when needed.

Service Coordinator

Location: Basingstoke, travel within the area

Salary: £25,541 to £27,200 per annum, pro rata

Hours: 28 per week

Contract: Fixed term contract until 31st March 2027

Additional Requirement: Applicants must have a full UK driving licence (2 years) and access to a vehicle.

As a Service Coordinator, you’ll be the vital link between hospital referrals and care at home. You’ll manage a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and with heart. This role is central to our mission of connecting human kindness with human crisis.

What will a day in the life of a Service Coordinator involve?
  • Acting as the main point of contact for hospital and community referrals.
  • Coordinating and supporting a team of staff and volunteers to deliver services.
  • Monitoring service delivery, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Attending hospital meetings, managing the service budget, and stepping in to support frontline delivery when needed.
To be a successful Service Coordinator, what will you need?
  • Experience managing or supervising people and working in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with health and social care professionals.
  • Confidence using IT systems and managing service records.
  • A flexible approach, with a willingness to work evenings, be on-call, and respond to emergencies.
