Job summary

Moat Homes is seeking a Service Charge Officer to help ensure service charges are budgeted and charged fairly in line with legislation and tenancy agreements. The role focuses on year-end reconciliations and may involve working from home and at our Dartford office.

You'll need good numerical ability, proficiency with MS Excel and finance systems, and the ability to liaise with auditors and residents. The role offers agile working arrangements and a permanent or fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

• Strong numerical ability and good standard of education.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, with proficient MS Excel.
• Understanding of financial and database systems.
• Operational understanding of service charges in social housing.
• Experience with service charge year-end reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Set annual service charge estimates in line with leases and legislation.
• Regularly reconcile scheme accounts and report discrepancies.
• Reconcile actual costs with variable service charges and issue year-end statements.
• Monitor managing agents' performance; challenge inaccuracies and issue notices if needed.
• Review reserve funds and inform residents of balances after reconciliation.
• Investigate and respond to service-related complaints within timescales.
• Provide advice to generate accurate estimates for new schemes.
• Represent Moat Homes at tribunal hearings and resident meetings.
