Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking a Support Worker for SensePlus Portsmouth to deliver day care services to individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities. You will implement session plans, monitor progress, and contribute to person-centred care within a supportive team.

The role requires literacy and communication skills, a relevant care qualification, and a flexible, calm approach to following procedures, with safeguarding at the core of practice.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and associated conditions.
• Excellent literacy and verbal communication for accurate records.
• Experience with moving and handling techniques and equipment (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Ensure day care packages reflect service users' abilities and promote engagement, independence and wellbeing.
• Follow and deliver structured session plans; record session outcomes.
• Raise and discuss concerns with senior staff; adhere to guidelines and risk assessments.
