Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Basildon, Essex, is seeking a Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer to develop test methods, verify sensor and actuator reliability, and support trackside and lab operations throughout the product lifecycle.

You will work with electronics systems engineering and PU design to select sensors, run non-destructive evaluations, and produce statistical reports, with a focus on safety, performance, and reliability in high‑performance motorsport environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 3 years' electronics experience in motorsport or high-performance environments.
• Experience managing mission critical devices and knowledge of sensors/actuators physics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MATLAB; familiarity with statistical analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop test methods and procedures for sensor/actuator reliability.
• Design handling/installation procedures to preserve device integrity.
• Create and execute non-destructive evaluation methods with full records.
• Collaborate with Data Analysis and PLM to link usage with reliability.
• Support sensor/actuator selection for PU applications with engineering teams.
• Perform assurance testing and produce statistical fleet reports.
• Engage suppliers on performance issues and supply chain concerns.
