Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking an experienced z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer Lead for a remote role in the UK and Europe. You will provide technical leadership for enterprise z/OS platforms, guiding architecture, installation, upgrades, and maintenance across complex environments.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in IBM z/OS systems programming, 5+ years leading mainframe teams, and strong expertise in Parallel Sysplex, DR, and security. Banking/regulated context is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• 15+ years hands-on IBM z/OS Systems Programming experience.
• 5+ years leading Mainframe Infrastructure or Systems Programming teams.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise or financial services environments.
• Experience installing, upgrading, maintaining IBM and Broadcom (CA) mainframe products.
• Strong expertise in Parallel Sysplex, high availability, DR, and enterprise architecture.
• Proven leadership of technical teams and large-scale mainframe initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of z/OS internals, performance tuning, and problem determination.
• Experience with enterprise change management and production support.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience in regulated industries such as Banking or Financial Services.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, enhancement, and support of enterprise z/OS environments.
• Provide technical leadership for z/OS upgrades and lifecycle management.
• Architect and manage large Parallel Sysplex environments for HA and performance.
• Oversee installation and support of IBM and Broadcom products.
• Establish standards, governance, and best practices for mainframe operations.
• Drive modernization, automation, and capacity planning initiatives.
• Lead root cause analysis for critical incidents and provide escalation.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, applications, and operations teams.
• Mentor junior and senior programmers and manage vendor relationships.
