Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Process Engineer to support Clean Water and Wastewater projects across the UK. You will develop process engineering solutions, perform calculations and mass balances, and prepare design documentation while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

You’ll contribute from feasibility through to detailed design, engaging in site investigations, asset assessments and technical studies. This role offers growth within a supportive Process Engineering team.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience or strong interest in developing a career in process engineering within the water sector.
• Understanding of process engineering principles and water and/or wastewater treatment.
• Good analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organise your workload and meet project deadlines.
• Enthusiasm for learning and developing your technical expertise.
• Desirable: Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or working towards professional registration.
• Desirable: Membership of CIWEM, IChemE, ICE or IMechE.
• Desirable: Experience in water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
• Desirable: Familiarity with process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments or treatment evaluations.
• Desirable: Experience contributing to technical reports, engineering studies or design development.
• Desirable: Exposure to site investigations, commissioning, testing or asset optimisation.
• Desirable: Interest in sustainability, digital innovation and new approaches to process engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop process engineering solutions, including calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments and treatment evaluations.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, calculations and design documentation.
• Support process design from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction support.
• Contribute to site investigations, asset assessments, treatment optimisation and technical studies.
• Work with civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and environmental specialists to develop coordinated engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with project teams to understand client requirements and deliver practical, sustainable outcomes.
• Build your technical capability through mentoring, training and hands‑on experience across a diverse project portfolio.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of effective engineering practices.
