Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Senior Solutions Engineer to own the day-to-day provision, management and support of local air-gapped IT infrastructure in Maidenhead. You will build a brand-new platform and lead ongoing improvements while ensuring robust security and compliance.

With 5+ years in IT infrastructure, you will coordinate with Architecture, Service Delivery, and vendors to migrate VDI platforms to next‑gen tech, manage incidents, and drive efficiency across multi-site environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in IT.
• 5+ years of relevant IT infrastructure or solutions engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain/maintain required security clearance.
• Strong conflict resolution within team and with vendors.
• Experience in a global enterprise environment.
• Self-starter with project ownership and deadline discipline.
• Problem solver with detail orientation and results focus.
• Expertise with Omnissa Horizon and VDI design/deployment/management.
• Experience with Nutanix HCI is highly desirable.
• Experience managing Dell Thin Clients and Wyse Management Server.
• Experience creating and maintaining Windows 11 and Ubuntu desktop gold images and app provisioning in virtualised environments.
• Solid background in virtualization, storage, networking, and security across multi-site environments.
• PowerShell or similar automation tool proficiency.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes (incidents, changes, continuous improvement).
• Experience with Office 365, Azure, Windows Server.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day provision, management and support of local air-gapped IT infrastructure.
• Build a brand new platform from the ground up and support it post-implementation.
• Run daily routines and resolve complex functional/technical issues.
• Assist in developing current processes to improve standards and reduce costs.
• Report to IT Service Delivery Manager and align site priorities with global IT strategy.
• Manage and optimise VDI services for performance and security.
• Lead VDI platform migrations to next-gen technologies and ensure upgrades.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Service Delivery and vendors to drive improvements.
• Ensure VDI environment adheres to security standards and data protection requirements.
• Oversee incident and change workflows and maintain core infrastructure per compliance rules.
• Deliver strategic IT projects to improve services and efficiency.
