Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an Development Underwriter to underwrite and grow new and renewal business with assigned brokers. This role combines underwriting acumen with sales, broker development and strategic collaboration across teams in a hybrid London-based setup.

You will manage risk, price appropriately, and drive profitability while fostering strong broker relationships and delivering superior service in a supportive, team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• University degree and/or Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Advanced Certification or Diploma.
• General knowledge of industry business operations and financial drivers.
• Local insurance marketplace knowledge and use for company advantage.
• Mentoring and coaching capabilities for peers.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and assess risk for products and accounts from assigned brokers.
• Make decisions within underwriting authority and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Support product segment strategies to achieve budgeted results and profitability.
• Maintain quality of business per underwriting strategy and manage book.
• Develop broker/client relationships and execute sales plans.
• Collaborate with Head Office, Risk Control, Claims, Actuarial and other teams as needed.
