Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Development Underwriter to join our London market team. You will proactively manage submissions, quotes and binds, while building strong broker partnerships and delivering tailored insurance solutions.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement: three days in the office and two at home. You will assess risk, negotiate terms, mentor junior underwriters, and drive profitable growth for our property and casualty portfolio.

Qualifications

• A Levels or similar qualification.
• Knowledge of products, regulatory environment, and local insurance market.
• Analytical and critical thinking for underwriting and market analysis.
• Strong communication and broker negotiation ability.
• Inclusion and collaboration across teams.
• Experience with industry and competitor analysis.
• Project management in routine regulatory changes.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth and retention of an assigned book.
• Underwrite and negotiate moderate risks to maximise profitability.
• Proactively manage portfolio and target new business.
• Collaborate with Manager/Team on risk characteristics.
• Identify opportunities to write additional lines of business.
• Utilise technology to quote and bind risk efficiently.
• Support underwriting reviews for policies or portfolios.
• Maintain broker relationships to market Travelers products.
• Travel to meetings as required.
