Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking experienced professionals with a strong background in tunnel and underground infrastructure to lead multidisciplinary projects across transport, water and energy sectors within our global tunnelling practice.

The role offers challenge, collaboration, and opportunities to contribute to technical leadership, digital delivery, and client engagement across international teams, with a hybrid working pattern in the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent).
• Significant experience in tunnel and underground infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical, project management or design management capability.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A commitment to technical excellence, safety and innovation.
• Experience on major infrastructure projects involving rail, metro, highways, water or hydroelectric tunnels would be particularly valuable.

Responsibilities

• Leading the successful delivery of tunnel and underground infrastructure projects.
• Managing multidisciplinary teams across geotechnical, civil, structural and MEP disciplines.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to developing engineers.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Managing project scope, programme, budget and risk.
• Supporting bids, proposals and business development activities.
• Driving innovation, digital engineering and best practice across project delivery.
• Contributing to the ongoing growth and reputation of Mott MacDonald's global tunnelling discipline.
