Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior or Principal Transport Planner to join the Passenger Transit Group within the Planning & Mobility team, working across the UK. The role can be based in any of WSP UK offices, including London, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of in-office and home working.

You will lead transit schemes from inception to delivery, manage client relationships, and mentor junior team members while contributing to the firm’s growth and capability in passenger transit

Qualifications

• Prior experience in passenger transit and mobility planning and design, and transport data analysis.
• A demonstrable understanding of the regulatory and legislative environment in which passenger transit services are delivered.
• Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and colleagues.
• Experience of working with passenger transit clients and experience of leading workstreams or projects.
• Understanding of project management skills developed across a range of transport and multi-disciplinary projects.
• Creative, innovative mind-set, lateral thinker.

Responsibilities

• Leading or contributing to a variety of projects and proposals (both technical and commercial inputs) and delivering high quality outputs in line with client requirements.
• Bringing your passion and knowledge of Passenger Transit to deliver high quality and effective outcomes for our clients.
• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team; working with our other WSP service lines to deliver large multi-disciplinary projects from concept to delivery.
• Building relationships and playing a leading role in securing and delivering work for our large local client portfolio.
• Undertake a lead role on technical review and checking of deliverables within the team.
• Support the ongoing development of the junior members of the team, either as a People Manager or through mentoring.
• Leading the financial performance of your projects and the commercial performance of our team.
• Making an active contribution to WSP's four key pillars (People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Expertise).
• You will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with our Net Zero and Future Mobility growth areas on a range of innovative strategies for our public and private sector clients, as well as being a key member of our expertise practice group.
