Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Planner to lead planning policy and strategy, based in our London Aldgate Tower office with flexibility for other locations including Manchester and other UK cities.

You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, develop local plan evidence studies, provide strategic planning advice, and represent the organisation with clients, local authorities and stakeholders. You will contribute to business development and project delivery in a dynamic planning practice.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading and contributing to planning policy and strategy development in a consultancy or public sector role.
• Client focus with strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach.
• Existing relationships with clients and local authorities.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership and Development: Manage the town planning team and ensure effective operation.
• Planning Strategy and Expertise: Lead key planning policy projects and coordinate policy development.
• Project Management: Deliver projects on budget and within timelines with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Business Development: Support tenders and nurture client relationships.
