Job summary

Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, is seeking a Senior Associate to lead regulatory supervision for telecoms security and resilience under the Telecommunications Security Act (2021). Based in London, you will work with the Security & Resilience Supervision team to ensure compliance and robust risk management across fixed and mobile networks.

Qualifications

• Experience in security assurance and risk management within telecommunications or related technology.
• Ability to assess technical vulnerabilities and apply appropriate controls, with exposure to cyber security risk management practices.
• Understanding of vendor risk and broader security considerations (including human and physical aspects).
• Awareness of cyber security threats within telecommunications or similar regulated sectors.
• Broad familiarity with telecoms technologies, fixed and mobile networks, signalling (GSM to 5G), and virtualisation.
• Articulating ideas: written and oral communication skills.
• Executing plans: project management experience, delivering plans and managing risks.
• Building solutions: identify problems and develop practical improvements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a supervisory program under the TSA, including compliance monitoring with annual SOS reporting.
• Respond to and assess telecoms and digital infrastructure company responses to security and resilience incidents.
• Provide technical support to enforcement activities with Ofcom's Enforcement team.
• Collaborate with industry stakeholders, Government and other agencies to align policy goals.
• Assist other Ofcom teams including policy and responsibilities within the Security & Resilience Supervision Team, including NIS obligations and Data Centres remit.
