Job summary

Ofcom is seeking a Principal technical expert to shape regulatory thinking and strategic programmes across the UK’s digital infrastructure. You will lead cross‑team work in infrastructure, connectivity, security and resilience while guiding policy decisions with significant industry experience.

You will translate complex telecoms concepts into practical guidance for senior leaders and external stakeholders, build strong relationships, and manage a small technical team to deliver impactful

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Proven ability to design and evaluate telecoms architectures and networks.
• Experience communicating complex technologies to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across infrastructure, connectivity, security, resilience, competition, and consumer policy.
• Commission and evaluate technical research to support regulatory interventions.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, evidence-based advice for senior leaders and external stakeholders.
• Manage a small technical team and develop talent.
• Shape Ofcom's technology strategy within the Infrastructure and Connectivity Group.
