Job summary

Ofcom in the United Kingdom seeks a Principal-level technical expert for the Infrastructure and Connectivity Group to shape regulatory thinking and strategic programmes around the UK's digital infrastructure. You will bring extensive telecoms experience and lead technical work programmes.

You will translate complex technologies for senior leaders, supervise a small team, and collaborate across teams to deliver outputs that support consumer choice, security, and resilience.

Qualifications

• Strong technical leadership with strategic thinking and programme leadership.
• Experience across telecoms, networks, and regulatory policy.
• Proven ability to translate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage a small technical team and work with cross-functional peers.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships across Ofcom, providing technical leadership on infrastructure and policy.
• Commission and evaluate technical research to support regulatory interventions.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, evidence-based guidance for senior leaders.
• Anticipate future technologies and their impact on regulatory strategy and standards.
• Manage and develop a small technical team within the group.
• Contribute to Ofcom's technology strategy for the ICG sector.
• Collaborate with peers to deliver outputs efficiently.
