Job summary

Watkin Jones PLC is seeking an experienced Technical Design Manager to lead the design process across PBSA and Build to Rent projects in the UK. You will review proposals, ensure cost-effectiveness, and drive innovation through collaboration with internal teams and external consultants.

Travel to design meetings nationwide is expected, with occasional overnight stays. You will also support procurement and assess new products and construction methods for performance improvements.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) with solid Building Regulations knowledge.
• Strong understanding of JCT contracts.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel; intermediate AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Own the design process across the development lifecycle.
• Review and challenge design proposals for practicality and cost.
• Attend design meetings nationwide and travel as needed.
• Support procurement by assessing alternative design proposals.
