Job summary

Involve Recruitment Ltd. seeks an experienced Technical (Design) Manager to lead the delivery and design coordination of social housing and residential schemes across South Wales, working closely with the Construction Director, project teams, consultants, clients and specialist subcontractors.

You will manage the design process from feasibility and tender through construction, commissioning, handover and aftercare, ensuring projects are compliant, buildable, cost‑effective and delivered to

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in construction, architecture or engineering.
• Proven experience in technical or design management within residential construction, ideally including affordable housing in Wales.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, residential fire safety, design risk management and construction quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and coordinate architectural, structural, civil engineering, fire safety and building services design.
• Manage technical information, design programmes, approvals, risk registers, and design change control.
• Ensure compliance with Welsh Building Regulations, planning conditions, housing standards, and client specifications.
• Coordinate statutory approvals, infrastructure, SuDS and building safety requirements.
• Work with commercial and construction teams to manage design costs, procurement interfaces, buildability, and value engineering.
• Monitor construction quality, resolve technical issues and ensure inspection, testing and compliance evidence.
• Oversee commissioning, handover, and aftercare, driving continuous improvement across projects.
