Job summary

Bosley St Mary’s CE Primary School is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a small, inclusive rural primary. The role focuses on SEND, inclusion and high-quality teaching, supporting pupils individually and in small groups, with potential to lead whole-class learning depending on experience.

You will work closely with teachers and school leaders to foster independence and progress, contributing to the school’s ethos of Every Learner Flourishing and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children in a primary school.
• Experience of supporting pupils with SEND and additional needs.
• Confident leading learning for individuals and groups.
• Strong classroom management skills and routines.
• Understanding of scaffolding and adapting learning without lowering expectations.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals and groups with learning across the school.
• Deliver targeted interventions and support for pupils with SEND and additional needs.
• Lead planned learning activities for small groups.
• Where appropriate, lead whole-class learning or provide cover.
• Adapt learning and resources to meet pupils’ differing needs.
• Support children with communication, regulation, independence and social development.
• Establish calm, purposeful learning environments with clear routines and expectations.
• Work closely with teachers to assess pupils’ understanding and identify next steps.
• Contribute to SEND provision and individual support plans.
• Use initiative and professional judgement when responding to pupils’ needs.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo and wider staff team.
