Job summary

Teach Plus is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Southall, starting ASAP. You will support a small SEND class of around 6–8 children with complex needs, including ASD and SLCN, some non-verbal, helping pupils access learning and build independence.

The role requires patience, proactivity and confidence in supporting students with additional needs within an inclusive school environment. A DBS Update Service is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEND
  • Minimum of 3 months UK experience working in a school setting
  • Strong subject/curriculum knowledge relevant to the role
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate with Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with complex SEND, including Autism, communication difficulties and non‑verbal needs.
  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities that meet individual pupil needs.
  • Encourage communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and the development of independence.
  • Implement individual education plans, behaviour strategies and specialist support approaches as directed by the class teacher and wider team.
  • Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive behaviour and pupil wellbeing.
  • Monitor pupil progress and communicate effectively with teachers, support staff and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
