Job Description:

Are you a naturally empathetic, caring and compassionate Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker in the UK with experience of caring for people with learning disabilities?

Do you want a fulfilling career where you can make a difference and change lives for the better in a culture of kindness and teamwork? Where you’ll be supported with development opportunities to grow as a person and in your career?

Join School House as a Team Leader and provide care for people with severe learning disabilities, Autism and challenging behaviors; support and encourage service users to lead full and valued lives, enabling them to live more independently.

You’ll be great with people – a real ‘people person’, able to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly in the right tone, and understanding others’ behaviors and expressions. Having a good sense of humor, resilience, and a willingness to help residents with personal hygiene are also important.

What you will be doing: You will join an inclusive, supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will use your excellent communication skills and experience as a Team Leader with a background in Learning Disabilities & Autism to provide care and support people through their care pathway. It can be a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are essential. It is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your efforts; doing something today that they couldn’t do last week. You will work on a 3-week rolling rota with a mix of early and late shifts, including mornings (07:00-15:30), afternoons (13:30-21:30), and mixed shifts.

As a Team Leader you will have:

  • Ideally have or be working towards NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Hold a valid UK driving license (preferred for community visits)
  • Strong empathy and a caring, compassionate nature
  • Willingness to support residents with personal hygiene
  • Excellent people and communication skills, with a good sense of humor
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviors
  • Positive and professional approach
  • Reliable, flexible, hardworking, and honest
  • Local or within a commutable distance

You must live in the UK and have the Right to Work in the UK full-time. 20-hour Student and Skilled Worker Visas cannot be accepted.

Where you will be working:

Location: School House, School Walk, Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, TW16 6RB

Join the team at School House, supporting people who may have moderate learning disabilities with health needs, autism, and behaviors.

You will support residents as part of their care pathway, promoting social inclusion through community engagement and helping them develop social networks and participate in activities to live purposeful lives.

What you will get:

  • Annual salary of £25,350, £13 per hour
  • 33 days of annual leave plus your birthday off
  • Free meals and parking in local streets
  • Wellbeing support and activities for work-life balance
  • Career development and training opportunities
  • Pension contributions
  • Life Assurance
  • Enhanced Maternity Package

Additional benefits include retail discounts, special offers, and more.

About your next employer:
