Job summary

Arup is seeking a senior protection and control engineer for transmission substations in the UK. You will provide technical leadership across multiple projects, oversee protection scheme design and configuration, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards while driving innovation.

You will mentor junior engineers, lead multidisciplinary reviews, and act as the primary technical interface for clients, regulators, and contractors, contributing to Arup’s reputation for quality engineering and

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status essential.
• Extensive experience in substation protection and control engineering (HV/EHV).
• Proven track record of leading engineering teams and delivering large-scale projects.
• Expertise in protection relays, SCADA systems, and comms (IEC 61850, DNP3).
• Familiarity with power system analysis tools (ETAP, DIgSILENT).
• Previous National Grid experience preferred but not essential.
