Job summary

Arup in the United Kingdom seeks a senior protection and control engineering leader to drive design delivery for HV/EHV substations. This role emphasizes strategic thinking, client engagement and efficient project governance across budgets and timelines, with National Grid experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is essential.
• Chartered Engineer status is essential.
• Extensive experience in HV/EHV protection and control engineering.
• Experience leading engineering teams on large-scale projects.
• Familiarity with protection relays, SCADA and comms protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for protection and control engineering across multiple projects.
• Oversee design, configuration and implementation of protection schemes for transmission substations.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE and national grid standards while driving innovation.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical reviews.
