Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Near Chartered Structural Engineer to join a growing consultancy near Maidstone, Kent. You’ll work across a varied portfolio from concept to completion, taking ownership of designs and collaborating with clients, architects and other professionals.

Ideally you are chartered or near-chartered, with strong knowledge of BS/Eurocodes and experience with steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures. Hybrid/flexible working is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Several years of relevant structural engineering consultancy experience.
• Strong knowledge of structural design principles and British Standards/Eurocodes.
• Experience with steel, concrete, masonry and timber.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver structural engineering solutions across a varied project portfolio.
• From initial concept through to detailed design and construction.
• Produce calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients and fellow engineers.
• Review designs and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Take increasing responsibility for projects, clients and technical delivery.

An established and growing structural engineering consultancy near Maidstone, Kent is looking for a talented Near Chartered Structural Engineer to join its expanding team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who is either already chartered or within touching distance of achieving CEng status, and who wants to take the next step in their career without disappearing into a huge corporate structure.

As a Near Chartered Structural Engineer, you'll work across a varied portfolio of projects, getting involved from concept through to completion. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of designs, solve challenging engineering problems and work closely with clients, architects and other professionals.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and delivering structural engineering solutions across a varied project portfolio.
• Working on projects from initial concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
• Producing calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
• Coordinating with architects, contractors, clients and fellow engineers.
• Reviewing designs and providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Taking increasing responsibility for projects, clients and technical delivery.
• Helping shape the continued growth and development of the structural engineering team.

What we're looking for

Ideally, you'll have

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Several years' relevant structural engineering consultancy experience.
• Strong experience in building structures.
• Excellent knowledge of structural design principles and relevant British Standards / Eurocodes.
• Experience with common structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Chartered Engineer status, or be very close to achieving chartership.
• The ambition to progress, lead and take ownership.
