An established and forward-thinking structural engineering consultancy near Borough Green, Kent is looking for an experienced Associate Structural Engineer to join its senior leadership team as an Associate Director of Structural Engineering.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than simply a senior design position. You'll have the chance to influence projects, develop client relationships, mentor engineers and play a genuine role in shaping the future direction of the consultancy.

The opportunity

As an Associate Structural Engineer, you'll combine strong technical capability with commercial awareness and leadership.

You’ll be trusted to take ownership of significant projects, provide senior technical input and become a key point of contact for clients and project teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading structural engineering projects from concept through to completion.
• Providing senior technical guidance across a varied portfolio of building projects.
• Reviewing and overseeing structural calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
• Developing strong, long-term relationships with clients, architects and contractors.
• Mentoring and supporting engineers at different stages of their careers.
• Assisting with project management, resource planning and commercial performance.
• Identifying opportunities to develop new and existing client relationships.
• Contributing to the strategic growth and development of the structural engineering team.
• Representing the consultancy at client meetings and industry events.

What we're looking for

We're looking for an Associate Structural Engineer who has the technical credibility, confidence and ambition to operate at Associate Director level.

You’ll ideally have:

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status, or a strong track record at senior/associate level.
• Significant consultancy experience within the building structures sector.
• Excellent technical knowledge across steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
• Strong understanding of Eurocodes and relevant British Standards.
• Experience managing projects, clients and junior team members.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A commercial mindset and an interest in business development.
• The ambition to take a genuine leadership role within a growing consultancy.
