Your mission

Assystem is growing fast — and our stress and structural integrity capability is growing with it. We’re looking for a Senior / Principal Stress Engineer who is ready to take the next step into a technical and capability leadership role, helping to strengthen, grow and develop our UK stress engineering community. This is a hybrid role: you’ll deliver high‑value technical work for clients while also shaping the direction, tools, talent and strategy of our stress capability.

What You’ll Do
  • 🔧 Lead complex stress and structural integrity assessments using FEA and hand calculations
  • 📄 Review and approve technical work, representing Assystem confidently with clients
  • 🎓 Mentor and develop engineers, building future stress specialists
  • 🌱 Drive capability growth — training, methods, best practices, recruitment and retention
  • 📈 Support bids and business development, working closely with Engineering Directors and Sales
  • 🤝 Collaborate across multi‑disciplinary teams in the nuclear and defence sectors
Qualifications

What You’ll Bring :

  • 🤝 To lead, build and guide a community of highly skilled stress engineers
  • 🔧 Strong background in stress analysis / structural integrity
  • ✨ Expertise in FEA (ABAQUS, ANSYS, etc.) and relevant assessment codes (ASME, BS7910, R6 etc.)
  • 📚 Experience in the nuclear or similar highly regulated sector
  • 🎓 Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working toward it
  • ⚡ Ability to develop and implement technical strategy and capability development
