Placements24 is seeking an experienced Special Education Coordinator to lead and enhance special education programs in East London. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and developing effective support strategies for students with diverse learning needs.

You will advocate for students with disabilities and their families, provide professional development, and collaborate with administrators, teachers, and parents to promote inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Administration, or a related field.
• Valid South African teaching qualification with a specialization in Special Education.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education, with significant leadership or coordination.
• In-depth knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP processes.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience in data analysis and program evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development, implementation, and review of IEPs for students requiring special education services.
• Manage and support a team of special education teachers, aides, and related service providers.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to special education.
• Collaborate with school administrators, general education teachers, and parents to promote inclusive practices and student success.
• Provide professional development and training to staff on special education topics and best practices.
• Monitor student progress, collect data, and prepare reports on the effectiveness of special education programs.
