Job summary

Square Grill House & Piano Bar in Bath is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our busy kitchen. The role offers a senior position, with leadership responsibilities and a salary up to £45,000 per year, depending on experience.

You will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations, maintain high standards of quality, hygiene and presentation, and support the team across service periods.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Sous Chef or senior kitchen position.
• Excellent kitchen knowledge and strong organisational skills.
• Confidence to lead a team and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen management and operations.
• Lead and supervise the kitchen team during preparation and service.
• Ensure dishes are prepared and presented to a high standard.
• Maintain excellent food quality, portion control and presentation.
• Assist with stock management, ordering and stock rotation.
• Help control food costs, waste and kitchen expenditure.
• Ensure all food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures are followed.
• Maintain a clean, organised and professional kitchen environment.
• Train, support and develop junior team members.
• Take responsibility for kitchen operations in the Head Chef’s absence.
