Job summary

Marqeta is seeking a Staff Solutions Engineer to lead technical discovery and design tailored solutions for our customers. You’ll work with BD and CS teams to close opportunities, presenting architecture, API capabilities, and implementation strategies to product and engineering stakeholders.

You'll serve as a trusted technical advisor through the sales cycle and into deployment, ensuring a smooth handoff to the delivery teams and ongoing customer success, while advocating for customer needs

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
• Ideally 7+ years experience in a relevant Technology, Product or Sales Engineering role, ideally in the Payments/Fintech industry.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and relevant tools and technologies (e.g. JSON, Postman, GraphQL, XML, etc.)
• Ability to ramp quickly with new technologies, adapt to changing circumstances, and apply creative solutions to unprecedented challenges
• Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to lead presentations and technical consulting sessions via video conference
• Ability to prioritise, manage, and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously
• Team-oriented and collaborative
• Nice-To-Haves: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related area
• Nice-To-Haves: Demonstrated strong understanding of fintech and payments
• Nice-To-Haves: Experience writing solution summaries and developing diagrams
• Nice-To-Haves: Experience as a software developer and/or product manager

Responsibilities

• Lead Technical Overview and Solution Discovery: present Marqeta’s capabilities to customers’ product and engineering stakeholders.
• Designing Solutions: partner with Solutions Architects and Product Managers to refine the Marqeta solution.
• Technical Consulting for Long-term Success: act as client’s trusted technical advisor and bridge to the implementation team.
• Represent the ‘voice of the customer’: provide feedback loop to product teams and participate in trainings and beta testing.
• Know the Tech: learn Marqeta’s capabilities and articulate benefits to customers with credibility.
• Support the Sales Process: engage on opportunities from first engagement to pricing discussions and negotiations.
• Engage with Customer Opportunities: work with developers, product managers, and business heads to align on technical influencers.
• Trendspotting: identify emerging needs and market gaps for competitive advantage
