Job summary

Sonar seeks a Senior or Staff Technical Writer to join the documentation team. You’ll own developer-facing content across the SonarQube product suite, crafting conceptual guides, integration tutorials, and release notes.

You’ll work with engineers and PMs in the same repos and PRs, catching issues early and shaping documentation as a discipline. You’ll own tooling decisions, define style and structure, and mentor other writers while ensuring accuracy of code samples and alignment with the

Qualifications

• Proven track record of creating technical content for developer audiences.
• Fluency in a docs-as-code workflow using Markdown and Git, with PRs and repo collaboration.
• Strong software development or DevOps background with proficiency in programming languages.
• Comfort using AI tools (Claude, Codex, Copilot) to augment workflow and validate output.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to ship documentation.
• Strong instinct for information architecture between tutorials, how-tos, references, and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Plan, write, and maintain high-quality documentation for developers: getting-started guides, how-tos, explanations, and release notes.
• Work in a docs-as-code workflow — Markdown, PRs, diffs, and CI pipeline integration.
• Use AI tools to accelerate research, drafting, and content auditing while ensuring accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineers to document new features on time, from specs and early builds.
• Verify and maintain code samples in languages relevant to our integrations.
• Audit and improve existing documentation for accuracy, structure, and voice.
• Help evolve the team’s style guide, information architecture, and content standards, and mentor other writers.
