Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years' commercial software development experience.
• Strong experience developing software using VB.NET.
• Previous software development experience within engineering, manufacturing, automation or machine-control environments.
• Experience or understanding of software interacting with physical hardware.
• Understanding of machine control and/or motion control systems.
• HND, degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software and control systems for automated machinery.
• Analyse software requirements based on product specifications and customer requirements.
• Develop software using VB.NET and other appropriate technologies.
• Produce system specifications covering software design, interfaces and product requirements.
• Develop test plans, procedures and supporting technical documentation.
• Work closely with engineering, product development and production teams throughout the design, build and testing life cycle.
• Integrate software with physical hardware and machine control systems.
• Investigate and resolve software and system issues across development, testing and live environments.
• Implement bug fixes, system modifications and product enhancements.
• Support the continued development and maintenance of existing VB.NET control systems.
• Liaise with customers, contractors and other technical stakeholders where required.
• Provide occasional support for installations at customer sites internationally.
