Job summary

Sanderson Recruitment Plc is seeking a Software Systems Engineer for a hands-on role in South Wales, bridging software and hardware in automated machinery. You will support and develop VB.NET control software, while contributing to upcoming software projects with the most suitable technologies.

The position requires 5+ years of software development experience, strong VB.NET skills, and a background in engineering/manufacturing automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' commercial software development experience.
• Strong experience developing software using VB.NET.
• Experience in engineering/manufacturing/automation machine-control environments.
• Experience with software interacting with physical hardware.
• Understanding of machine control and/or motion control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software and control systems for automated machinery.
• Analyse software requirements based on product specifications and customer requirements.
• Develop software using VB.NET and other appropriate technologies.
• Produce system specifications covering software design, interfaces and product requirements.
• Develop test plans, procedures and supporting technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, product development and production teams through design, build and testing life cycle.
• Integrate software with physical hardware and machine control systems.
• Investigate and resolve software and system issues across development, testing and live environments.
• Implement bug fixes, system modifications and product enhancements.
• Support continued development and maintenance of VB.NET control systems.
• Liaise with customers, contractors and other technical stakeholders as needed.
• Provide occasional support for installations at customer sites internationally.
