Job summary

Thales Maritime Mission Systems seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, implement and test next-generation sonar and mission systems for UK and international navies. Based at the Manchester site, you will contribute to complex defence projects and collaborate with international Thales teams.

You will develop software in Java/Python on Linux, apply Agile methods, and support integration and verification activities to ensure robust delivery.

Qualifications

• Understanding of a solution development lifecycle for complex systems, with several years’ experience of SW development utilising an Agile methodology.
• Ability to derive and manage SW Requirements
• Ability to design a SW solution that meets the operational needs/requirements
• Demonstrable skills in SW development (Java/Python in a Linux environment)
• Use of industry standard tooling for SW development (IDEs, Unit Test frameworks, Static analysis etc)
• Knowledge of Software Architectures and Design Patterns
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work as a key member of the team
• Desire to take responsibility for your professional development

Responsibilities

• Develop software components (from detailed Design thru to Unit testing) to realise the vision of our Product Owners, following the SW architectures identified by our SW Architects.
• Support the SW Integration activities and resolve bugs identified during verification.
