Job summary

Thales Underwater Systems in the UK invites a Software Engineer to design, implement and test human computer interfaces, acoustic processing, autonomy and middleware for sonar capabilities used by UK and international navies. You will join the Manchester software team, collaborating with UK and overseas sites.

You will contribute to the full software life cycle on challenging defence projects, travel to UK Thales sites as needed, and operate under stringent security requirements including SC

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of C++ on large scale / real time systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Awareness of Software configuration control principles.
• Ability to work as a member of the team.
• Desire to take responsibility for your professional development.

Responsibilities

• Define our solution by working with Systems Engineering to develop requirements and a test strategy.
• Develop our systems by working as a key member of a project team to deliver a high quality, robust software deliverable that meets customer requirements, on time and within budget.
• Support our systems by working with customer support functions to ensure that currently deployed software products are maintained on both land and at sea.
• Build our strategy by working with the software management function to ensure that skills, technology and ways of working are developed.
