Job summary

MHR is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in a hybrid Nottingham role. You will design and deliver scalable cloud-based HR and payroll solutions using Microsoft technologies, AI-assisted tools, and modern cloud-native architectures.

You’ll join a cross-functional Scrum team with product managers, designers, and testers, mentoring others, shaping technical direction, and helping the platform scale to thousands of organisations worldwide.

Qualifications

• Experience building cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of API design, distributed systems, security, scalability and performance.
• Experience applying unit testing, automated testing and CI/CD best practices.
• Solid understanding of modern software engineering principles including SOLID, design patterns and clean architecture.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership within a delivery team.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot would be advantageous.

• Take ownership of complex features and systems from design through deployment.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and champion engineering best practices.
• Help drive quality, performance, security, and scalability improvements.
