Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the International Consumer Bank. You will enhance reliability and operability of customer-facing digital banking services, building automation, and implementing AI-assisted engineering practices.

The role emphasizes reducing toil, designing for scale, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient services across the platform in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts.
• Proven experience as a software engineer with Python/Go/Java.
• Experience designing, coding, testing and delivering software in a microservices environment.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting across distributed systems.
• Experience as a Site Reliability Engineer supporting production services.
• Knowledge of microservice infrastructure: service discovery, ingress, networking, load balancing.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud computing services.
• Familiarity with observability toolchains such as Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Jaeger.

Responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement of reliability, monitoring, and alerting for mission-critical microservices.
• Reduce operational toil through automation by building reliable infrastructure and tooling.
• Develop service metrics, SLIs/SLOs, dashboards, and actionable alerts.
• Engage with development teams to design for reliability and scale.
• Design self-healing and resiliency patterns including graceful degradation and circuit breakers.
• Promote reliability standards across teams and tooling choices.
• Execute performance testing and capacity planning to identify bottlenecks.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and platform teams to improve SDLC tooling.
