Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch seeks a Senior Shift Engineer to join the pre-opening team of this luxury hotel. You will help shape the guest experience and lead the maintenance effort in a high-profile setting in London, as part of the iconic Hilton portfolio.

You will oversee a skilled maintenance team, drive safety and quality across all systems, and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service for guests during the hotel opening and ongoing operations.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance experience in luxury hotel environments.
• Electrical, plumbing, or painting and decorating skills.
• Relevant technical qualifications or certifications.
• Strong leadership and guest-focused service.
• Ability to work across departments with minimal disruption.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance team daily operations.
• Ensure fire safety, health & safety, hygiene, electrical compliance.
• Coordinate with Housekeeping to minimise guest disruption.
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly and discreetly.
• Carry out maintenance repairs to high standard with proper PPE.
• Maintain external areas such as landscaped spaces and car parks.
• Follow planned preventative maintenance programs.
• Build relationships with contractors and suppliers.
• Support energy efficiency and conservation initiatives.
• Ensure COSHH regulations are followed for hazardous substances.

Waldorf Astoria London - Admiralty Arch is seeking a Senior Shift Engineer to join the pre‑opening team for this highly anticipated new luxury hotel opening later this year.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced luxury hospitality leader to join the founding team and help shape the guest experience at this landmark hotel.

Located at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace, Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch will feature 100 elegant rooms and suites and 17,500 sqft of private residences. The hotel will open with two signature restaurants – Coreus by Clare Smyth and Café Boulud by Daniel Boulud – bringing together two of the world’s most celebrated Michelin‑starred chefs. Guests will also enjoy a world‑class spa, state‑of‑the‑art fitness facilities, and a collection of grand event spaces, including a ballroom for up to 320 guests.

We are looking for hospitality professionals who are passionate about delivering an exceptional five‑star guest experience, consistently upholding the world‑class service standards recognised by Forbes.

Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll do during a typical day:

• Supporting the day to day supervision and coordination of the maintenance team
• Assisting in the implementation and compliance of all statutory, legal, and company requirements, including fire safety, health & safety, hygiene, electrical compliance, and local regulations
• Collaborating closely with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritise maintenance activities with minimal guest disruption
• Responding to maintenance enquiries swiftly, professionally, and with discretion
• Carrying out maintenance repairs to the highest standard, ensuring appropriate PPE is used at all times
• Maintaining external areas, including landscaped green spaces and car parks, where applicable
• Following and supporting planned preventative maintenance programmes to ensure operational excellence
• Building and maintaining positive, professional relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers
• Supporting and implementing energy efficiency and conservation initiatives
• Ensuring full compliance with C.O.S.H.H. regulations, particularly regarding the safe storage and handling of hazardous substances
• Assisting with the ongoing training, development, and performance support of the maintenance team
