Job summary

Southwark Council is seeking a Senior Service Design Lead to shape service design across major transformation programmes. You will work with residents, service teams and stakeholders to understand needs and deliver practical, evidence-based solutions that improve outcomes and value for money.

The role will lead the design lifecycle from discovery through to implementation, embedding user-centred approaches and ensuring services are designed around residents and measurable performance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading service design within complex organisations (local government/public sector preferred).
• Proven track record redesigning services to improve resident outcomes and value for money.
• Expertise across discovery, journey mapping, service blueprinting, prototyping and implementation.
• Excellent facilitation and workshop delivery in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead service design activity across major transformation programmes and cross-cutting services.
• Collaborate with residents, service teams and stakeholders to understand needs and opportunities.
• Develop future service models, user journeys, service blueprints and operating processes.
