Kirklees Council in Holmfirth is seeking a Senior Teaching Assistant for Upperthong J I & N School to provide tailored support for a child with specific needs during term-time. The role is 30 hours per week, 8:40–15:40, with a 30-minute lunch break, temporary until 31/8/27.

A nurturing, patient approach is essential. The ideal candidate will have SEND/SEMH experience in primary settings, understanding ASC/PDA profiles, and strong de-escalation and trauma-informed care skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEND/SEMH in primary settings.
• Experience with ASC and PDA profiles.
• Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed care.

Responsabilités

• Provide 1:1 support, implementing bespoke additional needs plans based on EHCP outcomes.
• Deliver de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed care.
• Support a child with bespoke learning activities, within the mainstream classroom and away from the classroom when needed.
• Support the same child in small group learning tasks.
• Work with the class teachers and other key staff to improve engagement and reduce exclusions.
• Record and monitor progress.
