Job summary

GAC Education is seeking a Behaviour Support Specialist / SEN Teaching Assistant in Kirklees to support pupils with SEMH and ASC. You will work in mainstream or specialist provisions, delivering targeted small-group interventions and providing steady mentoring.

Qualifications

• Experience in youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or school-based behavior roles.
• Enhanced DBS check linked to Update Service.
• Team Teach or positive handling certification is a bonus.
• Calm in chaotic moments with de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils dealing with SEMH and neurodiverse conditions.
• Read the room and catch triggers before escalation.
• Run targeted small-group interventions.
• Provide steady mentoring to students who find the classroom challenging.
