Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of an independent residential estate agency looking to strengthen its sales presence across Oxford.

This is deliberately not a one-size-fits-all hire. Our client is open to speaking with people at different stages of their estate agency career, from a Sales Negotiator with at least one year’s experience who is ready to develop, through to an experienced Senior Negotiator, Valuer or Associate who can take greater ownership of the Oxford sales operation.

The successful person will be based from the company’s Headington office but will work across the wider Oxford market rather than being restricted to one small patch.

The Opportunity

The role will be shaped around the experience of the person joining.

For someone earlier in their career, this could be an excellent opportunity to join as a Sales Negotiator, build broader experience across the sales process and learn from highly experienced estate agency professionals.

For a more experienced candidate, there is scope to take greater responsibility for generating instructions, carrying out valuations, developing the company’s presence across Oxford and playing an important part in growing the sales business.

Whatever the level, they are looking for someone who enjoys estate agency, builds strong relationships and wants to be part of an ambitious independent business where good service and doing things properly genuinely matter.

Depending on experience, the role may involve:

• Registering and qualifying buyers


• Conducting property viewings and providing constructive feedback to vendors


• Negotiating offers and agreeing sales


• Building strong relationships with buyers, sellers and prospective clients


• Keeping in regular contact with the local database and identifying future opportunities


• Prospecting for new instructions and developing relationships across Oxford


• Supporting or conducting market appraisals and valuations


• Winning new instructions and helping grow market share


• Networking and building the agency’s profile within the local community


• Working closely with the wider team to ensure clients receive an excellent service throughout their move

More experienced candidates will naturally take greater ownership of valuations, business generation and the development of the Oxford territory.

About You

Our client is much more interested in finding the right person than recruiting to a particular job title.

You could currently be a Sales Negotiator looking for your next step, or already operating at Senior Negotiator, Valuer, Associate or similar level.

You will need:

• A minimum of one year’s residential estate agency sales experience


• Strong communication and relationship-building skills


• Confidence dealing with buyers and sellers


• A proactive approach and willingness to generate business rather than simply wait for enquiries


• A genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service


• Knowledge of Oxford or the surrounding market would be advantageous


• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

For more senior candidates, previous valuation, instruction-winning and business development experience will be important.
