Job summary

Humanoid in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Software & Autonomy to define, architect, integrate and verify the software systems behind our humanoid platform. You will work across perception, navigation, AI, planning, controls, ROS 2, and simulation, translating stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Five+ years in systems engineering, robotics software, or autonomous systems.
• Experience with complex software-intensive or cyber-physical systems.
• Strong knowledge of requirements engineering, architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, and traceability.
• Experience with ROS 2, perception, localization, navigation, AI, planning, and controls.

Responsibilities

• Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable system and software requirements.
• Define software capabilities to support humanoid behaviours and use cases.
• Decompose capabilities across perception, navigation, AI, planning, controls, and services.
• Develop and maintain the software and autonomy stack architecture.
• Define interfaces, data ownership, timing, and fault handling across components.
• Coordinate integration across software, firmware, electronics, sensors, and mechanical systems.
• Define integration stages, test environments, and readiness criteria.
• Lead investigations of complex system issues across software and hardware.
• Develop verification and validation strategies for autonomous capabilities.
• Establish measurable performance criteria for perception, localization, navigation, AI, and robot behaviours.
