Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Senior Residential Support Worker for a children's home near Abergavenny in Monmouthshire. You will support up to four young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.

The role requires a Level 3 in Health and Social Care, a UK driving licence, an Enhanced DBS check, and registration with Social Care Wales. You will lead shifts, maintain records, and promote well‑being through therapeutic interactions.

Qualifications

• QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
• Minimum of 1 year working in a care setting, preferably with children or young people.
• Full UK manual driving licence, Enhanced DBS check, and registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to register within 6 months).
• Strong communication, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and sleep‑in duties.
• Basic IT skills and understanding of health, safety, and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
• Acting as a positive role model and leader within the team, including shift leading responsibilities.
• Ensuring the safety and well‑being of young people by adhering to statutory requirements, health and safety policies, and risk assessments.
• Supporting young people’s personal development through therapeutic and supportive interactions.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to care plans and daily activities.
