Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker for our children’s home in Glynneath, Wales. You will lead a small team, provide high-quality care to up to 4 young people, and ensure safety and wellbeing in line with statutory requirements and risk assessments.

The role requires a QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, at least 1 year of relevant experience with children or young people, and a full UK manual driving licence with Social Care Wales registration

Senior Residential Support Worker

Location: Glynneath, Neath Port Talbot, Wales

Salary: £27,804.60 - £38,082.60 per annum

Employment Type: Full-time

We are seeking dedicated Senior Residential Support Workers to join our children’s home in Glynneath, supporting up to 4 young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Located in a semi‑rural setting, our home provides a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where young people feel supported and valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing high‑quality care and support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Acting as a positive role model and leader within the team, including shift leading responsibilities.
  • Ensuring the safety and well‑being of young people by adhering to statutory requirements, health and safety policies, and risk assessments.
  • Supporting young people’s development through personalised care plans and therapeutic interventions.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Essential Qualification: QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Required Experience: Minimum of 1 year working in a care setting, preferably with children and young people.
  • Mandatory Compliance: Full UK manual driving licence, registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to register within 6 months).
  • Additional Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, flexibility for shift work including sleep‑ins, and the ability to act as a positive role model.
