Job summary

Vetro Recruitment in Newport is seeking a Senior Residential Support Worker for a children’s home. You will provide care and support to up to four young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a semi-rural setting designed to be safe, therapeutic and nurturing.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, a valid UK driving licence, an enhanced DBS check, and registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to register within 6 months).

Qualifications

• QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a care environment, preferably with children and young people.
• Full UK manual driving licence, Enhanced DBS check and registration with Social Care Wales (or willing to register within 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Support young people with emotional and behavioural challenges in a residential setting.
• Lead shift activities and ensure safety and wellbeing of all young people and staff.
• Assist with development and implementation of care plans and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with statutory requirements and regulations.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Residential Support Worker to join our children’s home in Newport. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive team environment, providing care and support to up to four young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Our home is situated in a semi‑rural setting, designed to promote a safe and therapeutic environment where young people can feel secure, supported, and nurtured.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting young people with emotional and behavioural challenges in a residential setting.
• Acting as a positive role model and providing therapeutic care tailored to individual needs.
• Leading shift activities, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young people and staff.
• Assisting with the development and implementation of care plans and risk assessments.
• Maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to statutory requirements and regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications:

To be successful as a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will need:

• Essential Qualification: QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
• Required Experience: Minimum of 1 year working in a care environment, preferably with children and young people.
• Mandatory Compliance: Full UK manual driving licence, Enhanced DBS check, and registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to register within 6 months).
• Additional Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, flexibility for shift work including sleep‑ins and weekends, basic IT skills, and the ability to act as a shift lead.
